Name- Celeste

Species- Mobian ermine, Albino Mink

Age- Her age is almost impossible for me to pinpoint. Celeste by all appearances, would appear to be around 28 years old, save for in the beginning of her life where she appears more like 18-20. She was mortal on Mobius for about a decade before being absorbed in the Source, her having lived enough to serve her purpose. She maintains this physical appearance until she is once again mortal, but her time in the Spirit Pool is incalculably lengthy. She sees the death and rebirth of the entire planet many times (it's a good way for me to use her in different Sonic incarnations, like satam, SU, Sonic X ect for collabing with friends and role playing), so considering I don't know how long each cycle would last, I can't pinpoint Celeste's actual age.

Racial Abilities- Being a mink, Celeste is naturally a fast and graceful swimmer. On land however, if she's in a hurry, she tends to be very clumsy. She is also good at catching fish.

Phobias- Agoraphobic (fear of crowds) After having a lot of space to herself for so long, instead of being happy to be around people again as she expected, Celeste realizes she is afraid and panics when there's too many people around

Appearance
A white albino mink with large red/pink eyes and round ears, Celeste is simple and modestly adorns herself in a simple pink wrap dress with a sash tied around her rib cage. There is a mole on her right cheek under her eye. She also has a very small shard of a Chaos Emerald on her throat . It's what links her to the source of all. She always goes bare foot.

Affiliation-  True Neutral

Celeste does not affiliate herself as a 'force for good' or a 'force for evil'. She views the sides that are warring as two needed parts to maintain the balance of a grander whole. In order for there to be balance in the universe there must be chaos and there must be law, just as good and evil both are needed for a true balance to be achieved. Objectively, Celeste does not see people as good or bad. Each person is seen an individual and not as a 'good person' or 'bad person'. She seeks to understand the thoughts, motives, and feelings of the person. After all, to her, there has always been war and suffering. There always will be. Yes, there exists beings of terrible evil and people of true morality and goodness, but she knows both must exist for the natural order of things to continue. She stands in a position of true neutrality and will not fight for one side or the other. What matters to her is the health and prosperity of the people she cares about and leaves the grander matters such as the war with Robotnik, Eggman, or other obstacles to others. The truth is Celeste simply sees a larger picture. During and after existing as a slave for the Source of All, she has come to understand that these issues have always existed in one way or another and will continue to long after everyone on the planet is gone.

In her relationship with Snively, this view estranges her from the freedom fighters who dislike her lack of commitment and perplexes her chosen lover who decides not to sway her views. After all, if she deviated one way or another she may no longer approve of him.


It's worthy to note that even if she did choose a side to be on, Celeste is not a warrior of any sort and has a distaste for violence. When faced with mortal danger she instinctively runs to hide herself. She also craves connections and friendships with people after being alone so long. She also desperately wishes to experience a loving relationship, but upon finding someone that she unexpectedly falls for, ends up feeling that it will be unrequited. This was the case with Shadow the Hedgehog, who she helped through many nightmares but upon waking, he didn't know she existed (or maybe he did and she never gave him the chance? The world may never know)


Special Abilities / Powers- Celeste, despite her unique origins, is surprisingly weak and fragile. She can do little without the Source of All's approval. During her time on Mobius for the mere decade of time she spent there, it's limited to the preserving of her life and that is all. Her death would bode badly for the plans of the planet, so The Source of All keeps tabs on her by means of the emerald on her throat. When her life is in danger, the Source establishes its link, and the emerald glows. Celeste's appearance changes. She gains large slightly transparent wings, and her eyes fade out to pools of gold. The Source takes her over, and removes her from danger in the method it deems best. This does not always work out well, and once, it was at the expense of a friends life.

((It is relevant to note that she does *not* have the power to know where any of the 7 the Emeralds are at any given time, though when one is near (within the span of a few feet I'd say) Her own emerald will react and she can feel the energy herself))

Weaknesses

As an albino- Celeste's eye sight is very sensitive to light, and her vision is poor for seeing long distances. Also, she burns very easily in the sunlight, so she has to avoid it. Because of this she prefers the early mornings and evenings. Also, the gem at her throat is what connects her to the magics that sustain her. If her gem is removed or broken, Celeste dies. She is very gullible as well, and very trusting of others, even people not worthy of her trust. Celeste is a useless fighter as well and when confrontations arise, she'd rather run and hide, waiting the danger out. Because of this, while she was young on Mobius, Sonic went so far as to call her a coward. Celeste also has to take her time walking, because when she gets hurried, she tends to be clumsy and trip up (I should note there is a reason for this weakness, and it takes place after her absorption into the Source. After spending so much time 'floating' while in the spirit pool and while acting as the White Spirit, when the Source of all is destroyed, Celeste finds that she's lost some coordination XD ).


Bio


Summing up all the details I have thought up regarding Celeste is going to be difficult, so bear with me as I try to summarize it all and post supporting details from pictures in my gallery.

NOTE- Before she absorbed by the source she does not have manacles on her arms or a sash on her dress, she simply wears the pink dress.

Purpose- Celestes was created by the Source of All for a specific purpose. The magics of the planet no longer have an understanding of the people who live upon it, so it creates an emissary. It gives birth to Celeste with the purpose of letting her live out a length of time on Mobius, and then after a predetermined time goes by, to call her back to it to be rejoined, and ultimately, gain her experiences as its own to better grasp its workings towards the citizens of Mobius. Upon being reabsorbed, the Source finds that her very existence is still useful, and further uses her as an arbiter of itself, using her to act as an emissary between spirit worlds and interact with Mobians on occasion.

I've divided Celestes life up to three parts.


Part 1. Birth, life as a mortal, and absorption

Celeste was born from the Source Pool beneath the original castle Acorn. My original design as you see in the depictions of her, have her with a pointy tail and ears. I eventually decided to round them out. Yes, Celeste does have wings, but they only appear on very few occasions, usually when the Source is controlling her (but not always) and while being the White Spirit and again, only on occasion.

When the mink is placed on Mobius, she's deposited in a very poorly chosen place; In the center of Robotropolis. The freedom fighters fortunately were scouting the city and after stumbling across her, take her home to Knothole to help her. She is a blank slate, like an infant, but absorbs things around her like a dry sponge. This takes place after the fall of Robotnik in satam and Snively is in control of the city. He sees the mink, grows far too curious about how she spawned there out of no where, and hires the bounty hunter Rosalyne to track her down and bring her to him.
Being a blank slate Celeste does absorb information relatively quickly but her understanding of the world is quite infantile. When Swatbots in the city say 'halt organic life form' to her after her birth, she thinks it to be a greeting, and for a long time to come shouts it when meeting someone new.

Celeste goes on a journey to Angel island to meet Knuckles, the last of the echidna's who is rumored to be knowledgeable about magic and Mobius. Angel island is hard to get to and the guardian of it rumored to be as tough as he is head strong. However, upon seeing Celeste, the guardian knows who she is and had been expecting her. It's the beginning of a long friendship they have spanning across many reincarnations. After interfacing with the master emerald, Celeste learns who she is, her purpose, and her infantile mind is made complete.


Rosalyne finally catches up with Celeste and turns her over to Snively. This is the start of a life long quandary for Celeste. Snively holds her in his fortress, questioning and interrogating her. Being a coward, Celeste tells him everything about who she is, her purpose and her relation to the magics of mobius. He starts to build a machine that will use her as a medium to siphon power from the Source of All but is surprised and confused by her gentle nature towards him. He meets her gentleness with brusque agitation, constantly threatening her every sort of bodily harm until one day he claims he's going to simply kill her. He takes her outside of the city but instead of ending her he lets her go because he can't bring himself to hurt the only person who actually cared about the man behind the villian. He tells her to leave and not come back, but his moment of kindness to her changes Celeste and inspires a deep affection for the man that doesn't ever seem to fade even after his death and rebirth in other timelines.

2- Life as the White Spirit

Personality- Gentle, lonely, pensive, melancholy, quick to cry, calm, wise, gullible, empathetic, kind, timid, awkward, cowardly

NOTE-
1-It is now after being absorbed that the Source 'enslaves h er' and puts the mancles on her arms. The sash is an added detail at this point as well

2-As the White Spirit she is capable of walking Mobius as a 'ghost'. She can also walk peoples dreams. If the dreamer is aware of her presence and wishes to, they can relinquish control of the dream to her. She can not take control of a dream on her own. It also possible for her to 'touch' in the dream world but it's an illusion of touch and not like the real thing at all.

After being reabsorbed- Little becomes known of her, as she lives in solitude in a pocket zone called the 'spirit pool'. The only entrance to this place is through the Master Emerald after a forgotten ritual is performed. Her physical body remains there while her 'spirit' roams the planet doing the will of the Source. In lore she's known as a mysterious apparition that has earned her the name 'the White Spirit'. Ultimately, she is the Source of All's puppet and does its errands on Mobius and its attached spirit realms. She can't use any powers, nothing being accomplished of her own will, but by the will of the powers that she serves. Most who see or interact with her explain her off as a dream or hallucination, and is often forgotten just as quickly or chalked up to a de ja vu. There are a few who have clairvoyance and can see her easily, others are very in tune with the spirit world, while others simply have a knack for it. The majority of individuals can not though. It's relevant to note all this happens over a great deal of time, and she sees the life cycles, the death and rebirths of the planet many times.

Celeste is also a very melancholy character. She grows tired of being alone and while she finds contentment in having a purpose, she also craves love and companionship. Growing lonelier and lonelier, Celeste seeks out people dreams to walk to ease her pain.

Feelings for Shadow-
Celeste has a lot of compassion for Shadow  and his struggles. Through his dreams and watching him on mobius she comes to love him but it is from a distance and very unrequited. Eventually she comes to terms with her own feelings and learns she will never be able to have a real sense of love in her life. Celeste meets the Zone Cop Rownan and the two develop a relationship. He can access the Spirit Pool (as certain Zone Cops are admitted access, as her home is literally a zone in of itself). Rownan has discontent for how things are handled within the organization and often comes to the Spirit Pool to be by himself with the White Spirit because no one would think to look for him there. The two talk a lot and eventually all of his shameless flirting leads to more. Rownan is the first person she is able to physically touch in countless ages and it's a very emotional time for her. Unfortunately, Rownan is killed in the line of duty and when he resurfaces mysteriously and his mind healed, he lacks specific details of his life, including his relationship with Celeste. The two talk it over and agree that it is preferable to remain friends rather than try and rekindle what once was. While Rownan was dead, Celeste reached out to Snively in his dreams, her relationship with the Zone Cop giving her more self confidence. She knows she feels things for Snively but at this point it is not love. Rownan encourages her after that to continue trying and that there's hope for everyone.

Reconnecting with Snively-

It's no secret by now that Celeste has been unable to let go of her strange experience with Snively in one of his past lives. It lead her, in all of his following incarnations, to watch over him and his life. Though she cannot interfere, she is able to get to know him by observation.

I should note that when Snively learns of this he asks her if she realizes how creepy it is that she has done so. In short- it hadn't occurred to her that her observing him might have been intrusive on his privacy. Being a Spirit had estranged her somewhat from some social common sense and she apologizes for her rudeness. They set terms for her visits (obviously don't pop in on him in the shower ect, lol)

Snively, possessing a brilliant mind with an attention to detail begins to feel like he's forgetting something important hen he wakes up and goes about his routine day after day. He's used to nightmares and bad dreams as he suffers from Post Traumatic Stress disorder but feels that something key is missing. IT begins to bother him so much that he constructs a device that helps to heighten his brain wave activity and memory. He begins to wear it to bed and record his dreams. That's when he sees her.

Snively on some level recognizes Celeste instantly, flashes of clarity of things long gone that his previous self had lived instantly returning- only to flee when he woke. He's left with many sensations of de ja vu, flickers of memory, but it takes a long time for him recover memories of his past life. After several interactions with the White Spirit in the dream world and refreshing his memory by watching what he recorded upon awakening sharpens his mind enough over time that he no longer needs the device to remember her in his dreams and eventually even see her when she appears to watch over him when her time allows.

To summarize, Snively at first is very uncomfortable with her presence. He finds her strange and her odd fascination with keeping him company weird. He doesn't however turn her away at any point. He feels he can use her in some way, which Celeste expects, and while he researches to find out more about her, she simply continues to keep him company. The two converse a great deal in and out of his dreams until Snively begins finding that he enjoys her company and conversation. As old and wise as she is and with their conversations growing deep and probing he finds that while she may not possess his scientific genius he appreciates her views based on experience. After more time goes by he begins to miss her when she's not around and looks forward to her visits.  

They butt heads however. Snively has a very hard time accepting what cannot be proven by science and Celestes very existence rankles his scientific nature.

Further, Celeste and Snivelys odd companionship spurns a lot of self doubt for the man. His research, once used as ameans to find a way to exploit her, becomes a means to find a way to free her. His attachment to the caring spirit baffles, infuriates, and drives him. His torn between knowing he doesn't deserve her and yet selfishly wanting to keep her for himself.

After years of companionship, tragedy occurs. The Source of All is destroyed (as detailed in the archie comics)  and as Celstes home zone (the Spirit Pool) is collapsing, her spirit visits Snively one more time. She catches him working at his bench, not knowing he's been trying to blueprint a device that he could use to open a gate to her zone and free her. He turns, looking pleased and about to tell her his plan when he sees how upset she is. Her ghostly form is  unstable and flickering in and out. He grows worried. Celeste tells him what happening, that the Source is destroyed and her home is falling apart. She says goodbye and tries to tell him that she loves him but before she can her spirit is sent back to her boy, no longer able to maintain it's form beyond her body now. Snively is stunned. He tries to call to her, to make her come back, for her to tell him what he hoped she had been about to say but she doesn't return. He flies into a frenzy, destroys all of his work in a rage before slumping down and defeatedly mourning her loss.

Meanwhile in the Spirit Pool, the usually placid zone is in tumult, a massive storm tearing it to pieces. Celeste is loosing her ability to stay suspended in the air and crashes into the raging waters. She would have died if the Zone Cop Rownan hadn't shown, disobeying orders to not interfere, to save her. He pulls her from the zone in time before it's collapse and takes her back to the No Zone to recover.


3- Mortal Again

Personality- Careful, wise, gullible, empathetic, kind, timid, pensive, awkward, cowardly, placid, forgiving, emotional

Celeste, for a long time afterwards has to go through physical therapy to regain muscle strength and control. After such a long time of not needing to use her limbs she's weak and uncoordinated. She spends months in recovery staying with Rownan and his trainees until she's strong enough to venture out on her own.

It's during this time Snively decides to try and forget about her and begins his relationship with Regina.

When Celeste is well, her first plan is to go find Snively, but upon learning he's with someone else, she brokenheartedly tries to figure out what to do with whats left of her mortal life.

One day while overseeing a siege on a small village, Snively recognizes an albino mink on the monitor in the grasp of one of his robots. He orders it to stop so he can retrieve her. The two share a very tense and uncomfortable reunion where Snively yells at her for making him think she was dead while she tries to explain what happened. After finding her he's unwilling to give her up and tells her he'll take her back with him to the city and that she can stay in a small apartment like area he'd made for himself in one of the old warehouses. She agrees and goes with him, just happy to be near him again.

Snively has his defenses back up now though, still struggling with the feelings of fear and abandonment he suffered when he believed her dead. It will take some time for him let them get back to where they had once been.

Things are usually pretty challenging for them. Celeste is patient but she's quick to cry and Snively isn't used to anyone caring about him or what he's doing with his life. While Celeste accepts him as he is and doesn't expect him to change, she expresses a desire for him to leave the life that makes him so unhappy. To him, he hears it as her wanting him to redeem himself and be 'good'.

Celeste also struggles with a lot of feelings of fear. Being mortal again has made her realize how fragile mortal existence is and she tries not to live in fear but cannot help but feel exposed and in danger constantly.

Celeste and Snively do get their relationship repaired to the point of pressing forward to more intimate steps with Cel as the 'aggressor'.

Snively one day reflects on their odd life together so far and when he returns from working from a very long exhaustive shift, asks her what she had meant to tell him before the Spirit Pool had collapsed. Celeste is reluctant to tell him but he insists, persisting that he needs to know if he's ever going to make sense of why she stays with him. She tells him she loves him and the two at last kiss- which leads to a lot more. Before they consummate their relationship he makes it clear that if they take this step he won't be letting her go. She assures him that is what she's wanted all along.

However the relationship remains complicated and difficult. Finally after Snively pushes her limits of forgiveness and love too far, she informs him she can't stay and life life like this.

This infuriates Snively and he shouts and calls her a liar. He reminds her that she promised to stay with him, that she said she wanted him, just like he is. Celeste isn't swayed and he begins to panic. He drops to her feet and begs her not to go

This is the climatic moment in their relationship where Snively has to decide whether his present course is worth pursuing or if he loves her enough to try and live life differently. Faced with the prospect of loosing her forever, Snively declares if she's leaving he'll leave with her. Willing to give him one more chance if he can make the leap to leave the city they flee together but not without difficulty. They flee to remote areas of Mobius trying to find a spot where they can hide away and try to get their lives together. After a lot of traveling and some help from Rownan, they settle in a reclusive mountain area in an old building Snively immediately takes an interest in repurposing. Happy to do something with his hands and Celeste happy to have a town down the side of the mountain to go to, the two settle down and take life a day at a time.

Until-
One day out in the town getting groceries Celeste comes across a little squirrel child with no parents. After exhaustively searching for the baby's parents, Celeste takes the child home to care for herself. Snively is NOT happy with this development, declaring he is not a father figure and that the kid cannot stay. After weeks of Celeste ignoring his demands, he caves in and demands that the child at least be kept out of his lab.

Eventually, Sugar, the child they agree to adopt, becomes quite a daddys girl. They discover she was orphaned from an Egg Boss attacking and killing her family in a near by town. When They return to find the child and finish the job, Snively has grown fond of the child and refuses to let her be taken.

Fun Facts!

- Celeste has trouble grasping sarcasm and double meanings. This may get better after being better socialized when she becomes mortal.

- Celeste wears her hair in a braid after Snively made a passing comment about liking it that way. Pictures depicting her wearing a braid are usually indicative of when that picture takes place as the event happens after they flee the city and settle down on a mountainside. It's a 'later in life' detail.

- Despite loving the idea of dancing, Celeste simply cannot do it well. AT ALL.

- She is a very talented singer. There wasn't much else to do in the Spirit Pool when she had nothing to do so after a great deal of time her voice became very good.

- She is sterile and cannot have children. This was purposely implemented on her when she was created to prevent her link to the magics of Mobius from being passed down.
